The OnePlus 2 will have a fingerprint sensor. Of the many things we still don't know to be true about the successor to last year's incredible OnePlus One, the team did us a solid by confirming its inclusion ahead of the full reveal of the OnePlus 2 on July 27th.
While a fingerprint sensor in a smartphone isn't exactly groundbreaking, OnePlus insists that the implementation this time around isn't just to tick the boxes. Not only will the one inside OnePlus 2 be equipped to work with the recently launched Android Pay, but in addition, it has "the ability to store up to five finger profiles and can unlock the device twice as fast as any iPhone."
Them's fightin' words! iPhone models equipped with TouchID sensors have worked fast enough for me in the past, but the folks at OnePlus would argue that I'm wasting my time, claiming that its new sensor is faster. Fair enough. But OnePlus needs to have more ammunition up its sleeves to convince iPhone 6 users to switch over to the OnePlus 2. Or at least, let us hope it does.
