Apple promises to repair iPhone 6 Plus handsets with faulty cameras

Apple promises to repair iPhone 6 Plus handsets with faulty cameras

Do your iPhone 6 Plus shots have a habit of coming out all blurred? Apple has acknowledged a problem with the iSight camera in "a small percentage" of handsets sold and says it will replace the component for free.

To see if your phone is affected, head to the Apple website and enter your handset's serial code. You have the option of posting your mobile off for repair or taking it into an Apple Store.

"The affected units fall into a limited serial number range and were sold primarily between September 2014 and January 2015," says Apple, which gives you some way of narrowing it down. The free deal offer stands for three years after purchase.

"If your iPhone 6 Plus is producing blurry photos and falls into the eligible serial number range, Apple will replace your device's iSight camera, free of charge," adds the company. The problem hasn't been widely reported but it's encouraging to see Apple taking a pro-active line – even if shipping working cameras in the first place would've been preferable.
