Start saving – iPad Pro and Apple TV to hit stores in a few weeks

If you want your iPad Pro in time for Christmas, you better start lining up today. The new tablet will go on sale on Apple.com in late October, and it will hit retail stores the first week of November, according to numerous reports.

Cord cutters will be happy to learn that the Apple TV is on the same schedule as the iPad Pro, so start checking the sofa cushions for loose change.

Apple unveiled both devices at its annual hardware event on September 9. Launched alongside the tablet and TV were the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

The iPad Pro

For those of you who've been on safari for the past month, the the iPad Pro (starting at $799, around £599 and AU$1199) is Apple's new 12.9-inch hybrid. It features a dazzling display with a 2,732 x 2,048 resolution capable of showing 5.6 million pixels.

The iPad Pro features an A9X chip, Apple's third generation 64-bit chip, which is 1.5 times faster than the A8X chip. The iPad Pro features a battery that can run on a single charge for 10 hours, according to Apple.

It weighs 1.57 pounds (712g) and it is available in gold, silver and space grey.

Apple TV

The new Apple TV comes in two different versions, a 32GB model that will cost $149 (about £96, AU$200) and a 64GB version for $199 (about £129, AU$280).

The new device comes with a faster processor, a better interface and more apps, compared with its predecessor.

It also comes with a Wii-style remote that responds to gestures and voice commands, a la Samsung Smart TV remotes.
