Like the pricier Surface Pro 4, the keyboard Type Cover is an optional extra, but you still get most of the design elements that make the Surface Pro 4 a great tablet: built-in kickstand, premium magnesium build quality, and slim design. This one runs on an Atom processor, so don't expect the slate to do any heavy lifting, but it is capable of handling most Windows programs.
